Beyond cute cats: How BuzzFeed is reinventing itself
BuzzFeed has come a long way from cat lists. This month one of its journalists was on the ground in Kiev reporting on the crisis in Ukraine, and last December it published an in-depth article on a Chinese dissident living in Harlem, New York. The kittens haven't disappeared, but these days there is serious journalism as well.

I've noticed actual quality journalism from Buzzfeed lately. Using some of it's revenue to hire quality writing is a smart direction, especially since there is a lot of Buzzfeed style sites cropping up all over the place.
i've read a lot of good articles on buzzfeed as well lately, but the majority of articles (and traffic) i've noticed is still lists with cats (and their breathren.
They won't abandon their initial plan of cheap and fast content, but I'm glad they're making an effort to put out some quality journalism.
