Dancing Away to Rajasthani Glory

Rajasthan, known for its rich heritage and culture, has many forms of folk dances that can be enjoyed by people of all age groups. According to news in Rajasthan, these dances are admired a lot in not only the country but also across the entire world. Prominent among these dances are Kathputli, Bhopa, Chang, Teratali, Ghindr, Kachchhighori, Tejaji, Kalbelia, Ghoomar, etc.

    The folk songs on which these dances are performed are related to heroic deeds and love stories. Besides these songs, the other Rajasthani songs come under devotional songs and are classified as bhajans and banis.

The dancers perform this dance form wearing life size horse puppet.     2. Ghoomar - This traditional folk dance was developed by the Bhil Tribe and was later adopted by other Rajasthani communities as well.     4. Fire Dance:

    This dance is performed by Jasnathi sampraday of Bikaner and Churu districts. The tempo of the music on which the dance is performed goes on increasing and in the end the dancer performs on brightly glowing embers.

    This dance form is performed in a big ground where wood and charcoal are piled and the men who have to perform the dance jump on the fire following the drum beats.
