Tesla promises electric car revolution
Drivers of Tesla electric cars will soon be able to drive the length of the country with only one 20-minute recharging break, according to the company’s billionaire founder Elon Musk. Maybe if the price goes down. And that won't happen any time soon.
I'm sure they are working on better and cheaper technologies that will dramatically drop the price of their cars. As soon as prices come down to about 40k per car, there will be intense competition from all car makers to make good, reliable electric cars. Really looking forward to the next 5 years.
The next big breakthrough in battery technology is going to absolutely turn technology on its head. Limitations in battery size/strength/longevity is holding back a bunch of different fiends, currently.
Exactly, it's a matter of time until we have batteries that charge in seconds and have 10 times the capacity. A breakthrough like that will not only change the transportation industry, but will have wide ranging positive effects on the health industry and personal electronics. I think at this point we are on the edge of a major technological revolution. I consider myself extremely lucky to exist at this pivotal point in human history...
If the singularity could happen before my brain rots beyond the point it could be uploaded, that'd be great too...
I would consider it safe to say that we are the first generation that might actually have a real chance at living past 150. Of course I'm an optimist when it comes to this type of stuff, but judging from the advances in science and technology, we are definitely headed in the right direction...
If we don't kill ourselves on HFCS, first. We'll also probably be the first generation where diabetes is the norm :P
With the way things are going, diabetes is going to be the poor man's disease.
Exactly, not if the average joe can't afford it.
Until I got to the part where the price was in pounds, I thought it was saying it could drive the length of the US in one 20minutes charge.
