Amazon offers employees $5,000 to quit if they're unhappy
Amazon.com is expanding an internal policy of paying employees cash to leave their jobs if they're unhappy and not engaged in the company long term. In an annual letter to shareholders Thursday, Amazon CEO Jess Bezos outlined details of the longstanding offer, under the header "Please Don't Take This Offer."

Yep, its that little extra push they needed. Win Win I think.
So like severance pay?
Nope, severence only applies to people that were fired, not that quit on their own.
This is probably a smart way to keep wages low. People that work there for many years probably expect a raise, but amazon doesn't want to.
Seems like it. And it makes space for a fresh and enthusiastic batch of workers.
Interesting concept for sure. The best worker is a happy worker.
