I worked for FedEx for about a year when I was 18 or 19. Fragile didn't mean anything unless it was very oddly shaped. Pack everything in a cocktail of bubble wrap, crumpled newspaper and/or packing peanuts (or a more environmental friendly variation). If you don't think it would survive a drop from your shoulder height, it's not protected enough. Especially if it's heavy. Heavier items sit on the bottom of the trucks with everything stacked on top. And everything shifts, and falls over when in transit.
It's a pretty rough gig for boxes.
