    The subject(s) of this article, "carpenter bees" have always been deemed a nuisance, and their demise not threatening. Honey bees are the single most populations to be concerned with. Their numbers have risen tremendously since the 1960's, and since have remained relatively stable. The alarmism re: honey bee populations is just that "alarmism". Hives are greatly reduced in winter, but have enormous capabilities to regenerate and increase come spring. "Global Warming" would benefit these critters.
