Their numbers have risen tremendously since the 1960's, and since have remained relatively stable. The alarmism re: honey bee populations is just that "alarmism". Hives are greatly reduced in winter, but have enormous capabilities to regenerate and increase come spring. "Global Warming" would benefit these critters.
