Speed reading is not for people who like to read books; it's for people who like to say they like to read books.
We already several better ways to take the effort out of books: videos, films, TV, audio books, text-to-speech readers. If you find reading a hassle, then don't read for pleasure, nobody's forcing you. Do something else instead.
This is a bit like someone inventing a new type of horse & cart which uses a robotic horse. If you find horses too slow, just drive a car.
Next up, a typewriter with voice recognition.
