Thinking about the copyright industry brings up another question. What I don't understand is why the textbook system is still around. The textbook companies make the same book with slightly changed homework problems every single year and force the teachers to use the new edition each year. How are people still willing to do this for every single class? The internet has almost any textbook out there completely free and people will still pay $1000 per semester to buy their books. I think at some point in the future there will be a digital textbook system that is somewhat akin to a kindle and is either free or of minimal charge for a subscription.
