It's strange though. He's one of the very few things I don't like about the rebooted Doctor Who series. In the old shows he used to be the ultimate nemesis; now he's just sort of a sad renegade that devises complex plots to try and trap the Doctor. It always seems like he's more out on trapping the Doctor than to actually do anything evil in itself.

In terms of movies, I've watched most of the "big name" horror movies: The Ring (meh), The Grudge (1 was great, the rest were terrible), the Saw movies (starts off great and declines), Event Horizon (deserves its reputation), The Conjuring (best horror movie I've seen in the past 3 years), The Babadook (really cool movie)... but nothing, NOTHING has come close to beating Rec for me.

Rec was made in 2007, and is a Portuguese foreign film. I'm not big on foreign films, as I often feel the subtitles distract from the immersion, but DAMN this movie was good. I've never been as legitimately scared of a movie as I was when watching Rec. It's short (only like 80-90 minutes) and technically falls into the zombie plague category, but to everyone reading this: do yourself a favour. I can't explain why it's as good as it is, and the Hollywood remake (Quarantine) was terrible imo, but the original... man. An absolute gem.

Whenever these kinds of questions come up on the internet, I always look for this comic. I think it's safe to say it's the most scared I've been in my entire life.

I really hope this is the case. Anyhow, I'll definitely be playing!

This seems to be the case... Hahaha. I only got my SA citizenship reinstated this year, so it's a recent one too :P I'd imagine there are even less Namibians on here. To be honest, I'd be surprised if I wasn't the only one.

Well, I think lack of manpower can be replaced by a good algorithm in this specific case. Which is one reason why I'm rather optimistic about this game.

So, to agree with you, I think there's no way it's going to be universally hated. Which sounds like a weird selling point, but in today's market... Haha.

Oh no, same here... When I first started watching Simpsons, I couldn't really get into the older seasons (due to the style, but also the more muffled audio), but after I got into the rhythm, I now realize they have some of the best episodes among all of them!

This is the kind of discussion I love on here :) and yes, I can see that happening. Like I said, I'm definitely a fan and definitely getting it on release. I just really hope they put the same depth into the other sections of the game as it seems they did on the world generation. Seriously looking forward to it though!

But this sounds like a bit of a grind to me; it appeals to the completionist in me, but I think this isn't quite enough to draw millions of people to the game

This makes sense; however, I think making a game that you hope to sell millions of on the excitement of cataloging new species (no offense meant) is a bit of a long shot. I think I might love it too, but it sounds much too niche for the mass market they're trying to reach, I think.

Don't get me wrong, I'm getting this game and I think I'm gonna love it. But I'm a bit worried that a lot of people might pick it up and drop it after 8 hours or so

I really dislike IGN links these days. I open it in a new tab, as with everything (to read later), and it's the ONLY site where the video starts auto-playing. So I'm busy chilling out to some Mozart and suddenly IGN's theme starts blaring at max Flash volume...

Plus, sometimes I'd love to see what they have to say, but am out of WiFi range. WHAT THEN, IGN?!?!?! Hahaha.

Same here... been SO psyched for this game since its accouncement! I'm a massive space sim fan, and thus far I'm still looking for a game to replace Freelancer at the top of my list (Star Citizen and No Man's Sky look set to fill that void).

However, I am skeptical about one thing. Sure, it looks to be tremendous fun to explore, fight and just fly around the universe. But after you've gotten used to how new planets look, had a few fights and basically gotten the hang of the game, what do you actually DO? I mean, I haven't seen much in the way of a quest system, missions, that kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that every game needs this to be good. I'm just wondering how they're going to hold the player's attention when the novelty has worn off.

P.S. I'm glad you agree. I've tried to find the tipping point myself, and I agree; season 14 seems to be the last season where I could pick any episode and still enjoy it. 15 still had a few gems, but the commercialization started kicking in in that season, I think.

So when I recommend The Simpsons to people these days, I try to recommend seasons 4-14, and tell them to start watching at season 7 or so, because some people are put off a bit by the animation style of the earlier seasons.

I watched every episode up until season 24, after giving it QUITE a few seasons to "get good" again. I watched a few episodes of the newest season on TV the other day; it seemed better than the last seasons I watched, but nothing NEAR as good as the old seasons. It just feels like they keep on jumping the shark with every single episode; advertising "see Lady Gaga in the new Simpsons episode!" or "Unmissable Family Guy/Simpsons crossover", and if that's the selling point of your adult cartoon, you've lost the plot.

In fact, the closest thing to the early Simpsons I find these days is Bob's Burgers. It's not as slapstick or prop comedy funny, but the dialogue and plot reminds me a lot of the old Simpsons episodes.

Point is, I think it might be better than it was a few seasons ago, but it's still no longer the show I got to know and love.

As far as I know, Matt only stays on in a producing/advisory role. James L. Brooks is the only creator that still stays on in a full-time capacity, if I remember correctly. Al Jean and those guys are the driving force behind the show (again, if I remember correctly).

Point is, if Matt and James wanted to cancel the show, they'd be able to do so, or at least draw the fans away enough that viewership would drop.
