Thanks. I always saw people selling them for a lot of money so I thought I would try it myself to see how hard it was. It is not master level leather craft but it looks decent, it was cheap, and it holds rum. Who could ask for anything more?
It took me awhile to cut a template out of paper in a shape that would fit the bottle. The back of the bottle curves in and the sides taper up, so before I cut any leather I wanted to make sure I had a shape that fit. Took me a good month to figure it all out. The whole thing cost around $25.00 but I bought a bag full of scrap leather which I can use for other projects and to practice with.
