Interesting theory.
If they were not, we wouldn't have things like demagogues, or religion, or talk shows. Education would be a trivial issue: the first and most difficult step toward learning is recognizing that one doesn't know something.
They should have gotten the real Nobel Prize, except there isn't one for psychology (or for stating the obvious).
Jails would be empty if criminals were as clever as they think they are.
There would be no accidents, if everyone was the excellent driver they think they are.
