Food: One of the most important resources in the world is food, and husbandry is probably the biggest industry in the world. Peasants work the land, producing wheat (which is processed into flour at windmills and watermills), vegetables, dairy products, meat. Many peasants worship Chandalla, the Grain Goddess. Fishermen catch fish and hunters hunt for food in the wilderness and forests.

Salt: Salt is highly valued and important for the preservation of meat as it keeps it from rotting. Salt is gathered at salt marshes.

Fabrics: Peasants also produce wool, cotton and linen, which are important because they are used to make clothes.

Lumber: Lumber is used for fuel (glass and brewing industries and fires to heat the household) and for building castles, temples, homes, ships, mills, barrels. Large amounts of forest is being cut down and many kingdoms face deforestation problems.

Coal: Coal is mined and used as fuel, most importantly in the blacksmiths.

Metal: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Iron are important metals. Copper Silver and Gold are used as currency and valuable decorative items, and Iron is used for making tools and weapons.

Adyrium: This radiant crystal comes in three colors: Red, Blue and Green. Adyrium is magical and hazardous to most mortal races. Most mages carry a piece of Adyrium either in a staff or amulet, which allows them to cast spells.

What kind of powers are they gaining? Why does some turn into creatures?

What purposes does the colored foreheads serve? I presume it is a biological feature of the midichii, and that it isn't something they've painted on themselves. Is there space travel between planets? What is the technology level of your setting?

I present to you: Map of Myrndur

Myrndur is the world of my D20 rpg fantasy setting Mystworld, but I have recently moved on to another world, where I am going to recycle and enhance the good stuff from Mystworld and make the whole world better.

I created the map using GIMP but it's a long time since and I can't remember the correct steps. And I didn't use tutorial, so I'm afraid the technique is lost. :(

Edit: Seeing Minty's post below, I figured I'd post some more information on my world, instead of waiting for people to ask questions.

Myrndur is a fantasy world including typical fantasy races humans, elves and dwarves (although there are several off-branching subraces of elves such as the green-skinned vylaan, the shape-shifting lhurienathi, the haughty pale-skinned vrenori; "pure elves" call themselves aratheël; dwarves call themselves the dhouvarr), but also new races such as the bhakiri, the koroku and krimir (which I've mentioned in the Sentient Races of Your World thread), the akavali (blue-skinned hairless planar travelers with elongated arms and legs and psionic powers) and istead of orcs the urakathaal (who are descendants of the elven beastgod Garbadroth and his many elven "lovers") There are more races such as the Ogren, the Ikaiji, and the Kanara. Ask and you shall recieve :)

Myrndur is an ancient world. It is named after its creator, the overgod Myrn. It is engulfed in raw magical energy called the Myst, and mages can manipulate the Myst and are called Mystweavers. Hence why the setting is called Mystworld.

I have much more information on the world, but I don't want to drown you all...

TLDR: Map of Myrndur which is a world engulfed by raw magical energy (the Myst).

I've seen useable maps done in something as simple as Paint, but I urge you to download GIMP (which is free) and try to get into that. Check out a few GIMP worldbuilding tutorials to learn a few tricks and play around for a few hours. You'll soon have something much better than a coffee-stained piece of paper ;) (not that it is a terrible technique I think it's a creative way of creating randomized landmasses but it needs to be further processed IMO)

Edit: Or if you just want to get to the next step quickly just take number 2 (which I have a feeling is the one you prefer) and start worldbuilding with it :) You can always redo the map at a later point in time.

Hmm. I cannot help you choose between the two, as to me the differences between the two maps are insignificant until more is added to them, but I can however give you a suggestion: Now that you have the basic shapes of the landmasses try to make a second version of each map in a computer program where you draw the shapes to look more natural. Just a suggestion. And welcome to the tribe ;)

Hi bananasplitlady. Welcome to the tribe.

I'm interested to hear more about your world. Why has magic been banned? Which god does the church follow? What is the name of your world? What are the cultures of the two countries like? Is anything known about other countries of the world?

Also, you sound like an energetic person taking on so many hobbies :)

    A Coconut. Seriously? Hahah :D

On another note, Kaa'Shak is a cool name for a dragon.

    An interesting concept.

    Is magic also soul-based then?

Can you give some examples of your gods?

What is the name of your world?

Did Azsiyus create other sentient humanoids than the midichii or are the midichii the only sentient humanoids on Achilee?

What is the culture of the midichii like?

    Comment tarso

    Who are the Midichii?

I like the animal spirits/gods (especially the dragon-tiger hybrid)

    Myrtarch - Eagle-like creature - Strength, Endurance

Kurist - Boar-like thing - Watchfulness, Living in the moment

    Polumantyin - Dragon-tiger mix - Leadership

Is the above combinations the right ones?

Here are a few from my previous world:

Koroku Scholars say that the koroku share a common ancestor with the kanara. The koroku are a race of nocturnal humanoids who look like a cross between owl and human. Known as masters of stealth and climbing, the koroku live in hidden villages built in the treetops deep in the forests of Myrndur. Most koroku prefer to live isolated in the woods, away from bustling human society, but sometimes curious koroku venture out from the forest to experience the world of the daywalkers.

Bhakiri The bhakiri are a race of proud and honorable humanoids with lion-like features and deer-like antlers who claim to be able to hear the Voice of Nature, which they call the Dru’uth. Most bhakiri live in the great Chiathtalar Forest in the land known as Chiath. For millennia, the bhakiri warred with the humans on the continent of Korthas, in an attempt to protect their forest realm from human expansion, but after the Drakennath, where dragons and draconians conquered Myrndur and enslaved everyone who wasn’t of draconian descendance, bhakiri have become a lot less hostile toward the other races, and it has become quite common for young bhakiri to venture out from the Chiathtalar to experience the world at large.

Krimir Hailing from the island of Lashan, the curious krimir are a race of little furry humanoids standing about 3 foot tall with long pointed ears, born with an acute sense of the patterns of the Myst, that makes them able to know the future just a bit ahead. Scholars say they have evolved this ability, so that they could survive against the many deadly predators that they evolved among on the island of Lashan.
