AMC announces plans for 'phone-friendly screenings' for 'young people' unable to turn off their phones
There is a special place in hell for those who text in 100 per cent brightness during a movie, and that place may now be open to the public. In a bid to be more down with the youth, AMC Entertainment is hoping to implement phone-friendly screenings for “young people who don’t like spending two hours away from their phone.” CEO Adam Aron said to Variety, “When you tell a 22-year-old to turn off the phone, don’t ruin the movie, they hear ‘please cut off your left arm above the elbow.'”

I get why they would want to try allowing phone friendly theaters, but it's so damn annoying to everybody else. I've even been in theaters where the people texting at one point of the movie got mad when somebody else used their phone and didn't seem to see any problem, the ushers were called for that fun one. I think if they had gone through with this it would have been kind of easy, they already have multiple screening rooms for each movie, just have one that is text friendly and the others not be.
Of course they've now backed off on it, which I think is a better solution anyway. Besides shouldn't they want to ban phones anyway because they all have camera's on them.
