Idiocracy? Icelandic Study Shows Education Genes Under Negative Selection in Society

If educated people delay having children and have fewer of them, while the uneducated procreate at prodigious rates, does the population get dumber? An analysis in Iceland shows that genes linked to higher levels of education are under a negative selection pressure in the country’s population – giving evidence to the concept behind the celebrated 2006 movie Idiocracy.

    The average IQ [...] drops about 0.04 points per decade. However, the effect could be as extreme as 0.3 IQ points

    [...]Education levels have been increasing

    So, in essence, increased education levels of individuals decreases intelligence of the species as a whole... I dunno guys, call me crazy, but perhaps - and I'm just spitballin' here - it might be time to re-think the education "system"
