Stop just blaming the Internet for killing newspapers. Start blaming editors.
You could argue that 1996 was the year daily newspapers truly entered the Digital Age. Some were already online, but suddenly many of the world’s most influential publications launched websites for the first time, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune and Miami Herald. How did journalists mark the 20th anniversary? They argued about whether papers should have websites, of course.
