You have to admit it's pretty bold the way that the religious right denies things like evolution, climate change, global warming, and the like. These are all things that are out there for anyone to learn about and check for themselves, and there are very simple ways to properly disprove them if you want to do it. But they just go and scream that these are lies promoted by a conspiracy of evil scientists who want to sabotage our awesome American way of life, and claim that these things can be disproven by 6-th grade biology (without saying how). And that's all they need. Hell, there are people out there who seriously believe that Earth is flat. I can see how it's not too hard to make arguments about tobacco causing cancer, because in epidemiology it is a lot harder to make hard claims. But having a large segment of the population that denies that the planet is getting warmer or that it is round is just proof that humankind deserves to go extinct.

The same people believed, and still believe, that Donald Trump is one of them and has only the best interests of the middle class at heart and he wants to destroy the corruption that he has admitted to engaging in that made him billions of dollars. But, he's going to end it. Because he said so. And they rabidly believe every word he says. Just like they believe their preacher when he says the universe is only 6,000 years old. Because somebody smarter than them told them so. Just like they believe that assclown Bannon when he says climate change is a lie. Because he is smarter than them, and they are looking for somebody, anybody, to follow...just so long as that person wants to burn the whole thing down. God forbid somebody comes along that wants to make the world a better place. Give Trump's anti-science climate chief a few days, I'm sure he will come up with a reason why gravity is a liberal lie designed to take money from corporations so that they can't create jobs.

An this, my friend, is the problem with democracy. People are too easy to manipulate.

A funny thing about Christianity is that suffering is considered virtuous, so anything that makes life easier or better is automatically suspicious. Unless, of course, it makes it easier for the elites (be it priests, politicians, the rich, etc.). Then it's ok.

Here are some other snaps you may like...
