Oliver Stone: Snowden Is A Patriot Who Wants To Come Home
The famed director of “JFK” and “Wall Street” talks about his new film, “Snowden,” about Edward Snowden the man, the totalitarian character of “surveillance capitalism” and Russian President Vladimir Putin. You portray Edward Snowden in your film not as a traitor, but as an information age patriot defending American citizens from their own intelligence agencies. The problem is, there are no patriots with any power left in this country. The country is essentially owned by multinational corporations who don't give a shit about the US or any other country, they just go wherever they get the most tax benefits and political influence. Nobody gives a shit about patriotism, or morals, or decency, or respect for human life. They only care about one thing: money, and the power money brings.

Oh, c'mon! It covers the dominant strain of Democrats just as well. Clinton's hypocrisy around Snowden is far and away more offensive than unapologetic, grandstanding national security disasters like Hatch, Issa and Chaffetz. In other news, I think the Republicans among us must think all the more of you for letting them brand their particular flavor of Kabuki theater. Obliged to you.
He's not just a patriot, he is a hero. The man gave up a cushy job and an awesome life to let the world know that the US government is fucking us over. HE GAVE UP HIS LIFE FOR US! If that's not the definition of a hero, then fuck it, I give up.
Totally! He could have continued working in a well paying job, leaving in paradise, but he couldn't stand living a lie and the invasion of privacy and how his own government has secretly removing some of the rights of its own citizens.
