I categorically disagree that the posts in /t/cars are positive because "cars are generally not designed to be used as weapons". Posts in /t/cars are positive because that community is made up of car enthusiasts and the posts are about the things they are interested in.
I guess I view /t/guns as a place to post things about guns, the same view that any other tribe would be afforded, while people who do not like guns view it as a platform to push a negative point of view and that will not stop unless rules are put in place and enforced.

Yes it would and at the same time, I don't see any. Also, this is just something I threw in there to bolster the point. Do you have any thoughts on my question?

When I was creating this comment, I was thinking about the "movies" they showed us in high school to scare us into wearing seatbelts, driving safely, etc. when I realized how old I am and maybe they don't show those anymore. "Movie" was probably the wrong word, but as it was pointed out, I wasn't referring to fiction. Think more like liveleak.

You wear a seatbelt "just in case", but it's a little different because you've seen those movies where people get thrown from the car, etc. Have you ever seen someone actually go to hell?

1. This is the outcome I would expect for the following reasons:
a. Not every non-criminal is armed
b. Non-criminals that are armed will probably never need to kill someone to defend themselves
c. Criminals who are armed are inevitably going to put themselves in the situation where they will end up shooting someone. edit - Are they counting criminals who kill other criminals? Do they go in the first number, or the second number?
d. Non-criminals who are armed may use their firearm for self-defense by simply showing it and not having to actually pull the trigger. (something the article doesn't care to mention)
2. The article ignores the fact that the number one cause of suicide is untreated depression, not guns.
3. What is supposed to be the takeaway from this? We need "less" guns? What does that do to this statistic? Would that make it go from 34-1 to 100-1?
Sorry if this comment sounds a little on the snarky sound, but if there's one thing I detest, it's statistics trotted out as news.
