Why are we the only human species still alive?
Once Earth was home to a host of human species, from Neanderthals to hobbits. But today only we survive.

Reading the part about the Neanderthals and language, I think it would be quite interesting if someone attempted to make a conlang based on how they may of spoke based on the shape of their skulls. Of course, they likely had many different languages and dialects in different regions, just like humans.
