We spend decades building a spacecraft to go explore the planet. It gets there, and yes, it's inhabited. By people who are just like us. What would happen if an unknown spacecraft entered our airspace? Yup. We'd blow it out of the sky. At least it would be confirmed that there was other so-called "intelligent" life out there beyond the geniuses we have here.
Really? we wouldn't blow it out of the sky. Haven't you seen those alien shows and documentaries? there has been lots of military pilots that have encounters UFO and the call is always made to NOT fire. I've never heard a story of anyone firing at a UFO - just one actually, but that was just some idiot out on his farm.
Anyway, let's hope we discover alien life within our lifetime. That would be awesome.
