At least it can be turned off, for now.

That's a small amount of all reddit users that know they are tracking it, they said that it's turned on for all existing users and new users by default and that they wouldn't delete the information if you requested them to "for technical reasons".

Kinda spooky, but pretty in-line with where Reddit is heading. Tracking, censorship, NSA cooperation (remember the "warrant canary" fiasco, and how nobody cared the next day?) ...

You would think, given the fact that Reddit is what it is today because Digg pissed off its users and triggered a mass exodus, that Reddit would be a little more cautious when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Might be a good idea to get ready for another influx of new users.

Do the people in charge remember that or care though? If they can earn some quick money while it burns that's probably what they'll do.

Lately, it seems like Reddit users don't really care about these changes. The user base has changed so much in the past year. I have not looged on to reddit in the last 6 months or more (probably more) but I do lurk every once and awhile to see whats up. The posts seem very repetitive to me.

Yeah, I think I'm finally letting Reddit go completely. The base has changed way too much for my taste. Went this morning through some of the comments over the Dallas shooting and I think that probably was my 'fuck it, I'm out' moment. It was slowly building up to that but yeah, the crap that ends up with top up-votes over there is scary.

Red what? Oh, the next Digg? Good riddance to bad rubbish. I haven't been there in months and don't intend to go back, censorship bugs me just a little bit.
